501(c)(3) Approved

April 25, 2025

After months of research, mountains of paperwork, and methodical preparation, the VMAC Renewal Foundation received official recognition from the IRS as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity.

Reaching that milestone required far more than submitting a single application. It meant carefully defining the Foundation’s charitable purpose, documenting its plans and governance, preparing detailed financial projections, gathering supporting records, and making sure every part of the application met federal requirements.

For Cole and Kacey, their families, and the Foundation’s board, the approval marked a major turning point. The idea that began with a conversation at a swim meet was no longer simply an ambitious vision—it was now backed by a recognized nonprofit organization capable of accepting tax-deductible donations, pursuing grants, and building partnerships around the future of VMAC.

Achieving 501(c)(3) status did not mean the work was finished. In many ways, it meant the real work could finally begin.
